How should a “social scientist”, i.e. a human behavioral scientist, contextualize her research to be consistent with the behavioral study of non-human species? How does one interpret cultural interactions, artifacts, and the semiosphere in terms of organismal biology and ecology?
Economics is a great place to start, because it is derived from natural ecological resource use and the social resource sharing that occurs in all social species. Economics need not be thought of in terms of currency alone. Its principles (e.g. of supply and demand) extend to social capital and other resources as well.
